Now that it is the last weekend of September, my mind is starting to shift to October-ish thoughts. Last year I had fun carving pumpkins, but this year I'm thinking PAINT! Here are some of the images that have my wheels turning:

3. Black matte spray-paint is a classy take on creepy ...
4. Use a painted pumpkin as a flower pot!!
5. Chalk paint! It's got a similar effect to the matte spray paint, but it can be brushed on. And I adore the soft colors grouped here:
6. Intricate details painted on, so pretty & feminine!

I painted pumpkins last year, and let me tell you it was SO much easier (and cleaner) than carving! AND they last longer...mine were a combination of #3 and #6 above. Sort of a goth, glam, bejeweled version.

Great inspiration. We are empty nesters for the first time so I'm not sure what we are going to do in terms of a pumpkin this year, but painting it is not a bad option.
All good ideas..well except for the black which looks so ominous:) I love the chalk paint idea...a project for next year!

These are all so beautiful! I don't general take as much time preparing my fall decor like I do Christmas but this year there are so many great projects, I may not be able to resist!
