I know that if I could build my dream home my dining room would double as a library! I love the layered look, and there is such comfort in being surrounded by books:
I would absolutely consider it! It makes the whole space so quaint, inviting and interesting. Plus you will always have something to talk about. xx adahliavolk.com
Love the library/dining combination. Always wonder if you need to have a vast collection of hard-covered books though or would any books piled in there look good?
This is really good inspiration because I love books and there are so many stacks that one can have around the house. Oooooh to have a space that can accommodate those shelves. One day.
I know I wish I could transfer some of the library shelving to my dining room! So, for now I just stack books on the table and sideboard! Wonderful photos!!!
Definitely the last one is my favourite! In european apartments it's very usual due to the lack of space! But as you show, there's some GREAT solutions!
Nancy, I LOVE this look. These are two rooms that are fading in modern times, so why not combine them?! We are house hunting right now and if we buy a house with a formal living room I am going to turn it into dining/library. I think it will be great in the week to use the large table for an office for me and my husband, and then turn it into a dining room on Sunday when the family comes over.
I am a design enthusiast and aspiring decorator who loves all things beautiful! In my free time I love to paint, shop, help family and friends decorate, and continuously renovate my little rancher with my husband. This blog is a place for me to post some of my home projects and anything else glamorous I come across!

What a great idea, Ive never actually notice images like these before, but they certainly give a more cosy feeling to the dining room. I love it!!
I'm with you I love the coziness mixed with the elegance of both those things combined together!

Gorgeous. My dream home would have a library/ dining room for sure.
No I would not. I find the visual clutter too distracting. I prefer a clean quiet space for dining with friends.

I love the idea of a dining room/library combination. I have way too many books and way too little house, so this would work beautifully for me!
I have to say I have always like this look as well! My dining room is too small!!

Leaving me speechless! I love all those book shelves...
WOW!! We love built ins..this is a requirement for our future house. It makes the room look so cozy and comfortable. Great round ups :)
Eieihome has a few built in suggestions too (www.eieihome.com/blog/5-built-in-furniture-solutions.html) the kitchen nook is our favorite!
Fantastic post. I have had plans to do something similar in my dining room, on a smaller scale.
