Happy Thursday friends! We are a couple of days into spring now and I can't stop thinking about color: bright, happy, & fun color. If you are a bit timid about adding some color to your space for spring, fear not! It can be FAR from permanent. Here is a fab styling tip that I've seen several designers use: add a punch of yellow with a stack of good ol' National Geographics. Don't you adore the look?
Fabulous! Do you have favorite tricks to quickly add bright pops color to a room?

That is just fantastic! I love styling with books and magazines, they add such character to a room :)
Where do you find these photos? I have a few stacks of them in my house too! Love when the kids pull them out to read them.
What a great way to add a punch of colour! Great post, Nancy!
Eek...love, love, love. I was going to start by saying I realy like 'this photo', but as I scrolled down through the pics, I couldn't pick one that I liked best. They were all just too fabulous!
My boyfriend looked at me like I was crazy when I came home the other day with stacks of early 90's National Geographics. I was in shelf styling mode of course! Here's that post: http://www.gohausgo.com/2012/03/styling-the-bookshelves/
Do you think National Georgraphic ever thought the magazine would become the hottest decorative accessory when they chose that great yellow? Love all of these looks. To brighten up my decor with spring hues, I simple bring home a few of our beautiful bouquets :)!
if I used these I would be a big fat phony since I don't actually read them haha! I use books as my go to for adding color. I wish m y collection was bigger but I'm working on it :)
I love4 the yellow! I have a few of those images pinned now and have been coming up with ways to incorporate my vintage NG collection. Love it!
Nancy, did you see that chair in Tilton Fenwick's styling? Bet you did! How is it called? It's fantastic! I can't believe that pic, still fixated at it. Love the wallpaper, the lamps, the artwork, the palette and that thing which seems a tortoiseshell to me (Haha, it's like a "fancy ugly oddity" that ends up looking great). Have a great day!!! XoXo
I love all the color! I'm becoming convinced that I need to do a home revamp this spring!
Yellow really does brighten up a place.

I love nothing more than those bright yellow magazine spines! Never thought to use them for decorative purposes, but I love it!
Love the bright pops of yellow. I saw a girl's bookcase done in Nancy Drew books that basically "read" the same (no pun intended!). It was fabulous!
Love this, Nancy! A great way to incorporate some color into any room. Hope you are well. P.S. you can see a sneak peek of my new roman shade in my kitchen tomorrow. It's taken me forever to take a photo of it!
I have never thought of using them. Great idea!
Now you've got me wanting to run out and get as many National Geographics as I can find. I do remember as a kid, my dad collected them. He probably still has them. I love this post so much, perhaps its the happy yellow.
Yellow is my favourite colour for Spring, and these pops of it are amazing. Love the first Traditional Home pic. And yes, National Geographics are classic for adding that colour. I have a few displayed, but would love to a have a collection like above!
Happy Friday.
brilliant! I want to pin this whole post! xx
Hi Nancy,
You've got great eye for beautiful spaces:)
I love the touch of yellow, especially when combined with black and white, really pretty and springy:)
Cheers,
Kadri
I used to work for National Geographic! I feel so proud seeing these amazing magazines stacked as a design style. I have a whole slew of them in my garage, looking for a home, now I know what to do!
